JIS welcomes learners who can benefit from and contribute to a high-quality elementary to secondary university preparatory curriculum.
To be eligible for admission to High School, an applicant must be able to complete graduation requirements prior to turning 21 years of age.

We can offer places at each grade level to a limited number of students who require support services. Areas of support include: English as an Additional Language (EAL), speech and language services (Elementary and Middle School only), occupational therapy (Elementary Only), academic support, classroom guidance, and individual counseling. Admission is contingent on a match between the student's needs and the level of services available.
The admission of any student with identified needs (language or learning) is determined on a case-by-case basis using multiple sources of information, such as school records, evaluations, Individual Learning Plans and in some cases an interview.
Admission Priority Policy
JIS groups applications into 3 Application Lanes.
Application Lane 1: JIS was established by the Embassies of the USA, UK and Australia to serve the educational needs of expatriate students. For that reason, children of the foreign employees of JIS's three founding embassies have priority, in Application Lane 1.
Application Lane 2: Expatriate or host country students coming from overseas, who do not yet have a school in Jakarta are in Lane 2.
Application Lane 3: Expatriate or host country students transferring from a local or international school in the Greater Jakarta Area (JABODETABEK) join Lane 3.
Within these application lanes, children whose siblings are currently enrolled at JIS or whose parents are JIS alumni have priority over other applicants in the same lane.
Early Years Policy
Early Years students must be fully toilet trained prior to admission.
Before an admission decision can be made, Early Years applicants will meet with an Admissions Representative to determine readiness for the Early Years program.
Elementary Campus Placement
There are two Elementary Campuses: Pattimura (PEL) and Pondok Indah (PIE). Admission priority is given to applicants based on area of residence. In addition, JIS reserves the right to make the final Elementary campus placement according to capacity in the programs identified for the applicant.
The Admissions Board and divisional leadership will determine grade placement after a comprehensive review of an application. Your child's current school may name their grade levels differently from JIS. Please check the appropriate JIS grade level by downloading the JIS Grade Level Equivalents Table.
In the Early Years Program, placement is based on grade-level age requirements. Please refer to the JIS Grade Level Equivalents Table.
From Grade 1 onward, placement for students joining at beginning of the JIS school year is based on grade levels already completed at an accredited school.
Students who arrive after the JIS academic year has started will generally continue in their current grade.
